SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS represents an innovation in Mazda’s tireless work on human-driven philosophy. By improving the dynamics of our vehicles at all levels and in an exceptionally detailed manner, we have been able to improve their performance further. In addition to excellent performance in terms of ecology and safety, SKYACTIV dynamic technologies provide integrated control of the engine, transmission, chassis, and bodywork. The SKYACTIV-G 2.0 L engine provides more torque at low and mid-range but has lower fuel consumption and emissions than our earlier 2.0 L engine.
The SKYACTIV-G 2.5 L engine has a high compression ratio for superior fuel economy and low- and mid-range torque that goes beyond conventional gasoline engines.
The SKYACTIV-G engine is the world’s first gasoline engine for mass-production vehicles, achieving a high compression ratio of 13: 1, give more energy from fuel and increasing fuel efficiency and torque.
Increase compression ratio
The dome-shaped pistons in the SKYACTIV-G engine increase the compression ratio, taking advantage of more energy from the fuel.
The SKYACTIV-G engine improves the efficiency of the oil and water pump and reduces friction on the pistons, rods, and crankshaft.
Exhaust Manifold 4-2-1
The unique 4-2-1 exhaust manifold is one of the variations in the SKYACTIV-G engine that supports make a high compression ratio possible.
To build the SKYACTIV-Drive transmission, we have combined the best features of modern transmissions, thus achieving smooth changes, constant acceleration, and the precise responsiveness of a manual transmission.
More binary, fast
The SKYACTIV-Drive transmission takes into account the speed at which the driver uses the pedals. When the pedal is pressed gently, the transmission does not change until all the available torque has been used. When the pedal is pressed immediately, the transmission reduces the change earlier to provide the driver more torque, faster.
Motivated by the legendary MX-5, the 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual transmission is smaller, lighter and stronger than any we’ve ever built – promoting better fuel economy.
Increased fuel efficiency
The SKYACTIV-Drive transmission delivers greater fuel efficiency than our previous automatic transmission, combining the responsiveness of a manual gearbox with the sleekness of an automatic transmission.
Agile at low speed, stable at high speed
SKYACTIV chassis steering and suspension systems achieve two seemingly contradictory goals – agility at low speeds, but stability at high speeds. And stability and responsiveness are the two key components of a safe vehicle.
