Difference between a Tux and a Suit – In more formal situations or in parties and events, it is very common that there is an indication of which dress should be used in the situation. Depending on the level of formality, a specific costume may even be ordered on the invitation. At this point, some doubts may arise. For example, do you know the difference between a suit and a tuxedo? On which occasions should you use each?
In today’s post, we explain the differences between these two male world outfits and where you should use one or the other.
The suit is a full suit, composed of social pants, jacket and sometimes can include a vest to wear over the social shirt. All items in the suit are made with the same color and fabric, for one unit. Today there are several options in the market, in various colors and cuts.
Suits should always be worn with a social shirt, tie and social shoes, to complete the more formal look.
This costume is widely used in events such as weddings and graduations, in addition to being a requirement in some more serious and corporate work environments.
Whenever you read in an invitation to an event “social outfit or full outing” use a suit that has no error!
Already the tuxedo, also known as Black Tie, is the most formal dress in the men’s wardrobe. It is composed of social trousers, jacket and can be used with vest or band. The tuxedo should be worn with a bow tie.
Tuxedo models are usually made in dark shades of black and navy blue and are tighter to the body, giving an idea of modernity and elegance. The lapel of the tuxedo jacket is made of silk or satin, unlike the suit.
It is required for parties with a higher level of formality, such as awards and events of “suit to rigor”. In some celebrations, this costume can also be used, as for the groom at the wedding ceremony or for the graduates of a graduation. In some weddings, guests may be asked to wear the tuxedo if it is the will of the bride and groom.
A few occasions require the use of a tuxedo, but whenever the suit is requested it must be used. It is not nice to appear wearing a suit in a Black Tie event.
It is not enough to know the difference between a suit and a tuxedo and decide which one to use to get it right. Remember that the look is also made up of accessories, ties and shoes, which should fit the rest of the pieces.
Now that you know the difference between a suit and a tux, you will not miss the look in any event!
